Blue Underground & 4 FLIES
|
Here is a snippet from an interview with Blue Underground:
Q: There’s so much detective work in tracking down these films. Any movies that have eluded BU’s grasp so far?
A: "Well, the famous one is (Dario Argento’s) Four Flies On Grey Velvet, which has been in legal limbo for quite some time. We’ll never give up, and we keep inching closer, but it’s still a long way away."
The full interview can be found here. |

More HITCHCOCK info
|
Here is part of an Italian article at www.torino-internazionale.org:
Argento is Roman but very fond of the atmosphere and the uncanny geometries of Turin, where he has located a lot of his films, such as the classic DEEP RED and FOUR FLIES to his latest IL CARTAIO.
He has been exploring Turin a lot, during these hot weeks, trying to find a peculiar place that seemed to be unknown. He travelled along streets, alleys and squares befor finding the right spot, where he will shoot 90% of the whole film. It is at the Crocetta (an area of Turin). Two opposite buildings, two flats looking at each other, a "rear window". Does it remind you of anything? yes, right answer.
The film is called TI PIACE HITCHCOCK? ("Do you like Hitchcock?"), and it is a giallo for Rai Fiction that introduces a series of 8 films supervised by Argento himself. The "maestro" will shoot the first and maybe the second, and will give the remaining 6 to other directors. Six weeks of shooting, beginning on July the 26th.
Thanks to Francesco for the translation.

Giallo
(pronounced 'djallo, plural gialli) is an italian 20th century genre of literature and film, which in italian indicates crime fiction and mystery. In the English language, however, it is used in a broader meaning that is closer to the french fantastique genre, including elements of horror fiction and eroticism.
The word giallo is Italian for "yellow" and stems from the origin of the genre as a series of cheap paperback novels with trademark yellow covers.
