For all those who haven't checked out red velvet yet (and you should), a copy was sent to dario and he liked it so much he actually contacted one of the producers to tell him. Good thing really as it is a homage to him.
I do not often post about non-dario related films but amer (released in france on 3rd march) was shown at the glasgow frightfest this last weekend and is a cinematic experience not to be missed. It is not a giallo but is heavily influenced by that film making style whilst having a very distinct style of it's own.
The directors, Helene Cattet and Bruno Forzani, should be applauded for making something truly original and for well under 1 million euros! They deserve our support.
A new book is due out on March 25th from Kamera books.
"A comprehensive and up to date look at the work of cult director Dario Argento and the definitive guide to his entire output, including his most recent thriller, Giallo."
The uk bluray of suspiria was released on schedule this monday the 18th. The good news is that the audio has been corrected and is the best I have heard it sound on any previous release.
Not so good news is that the picture quality although showing more detail than any other version (as you might expect with bluray) is not perfect as hoped especially during the climax.
However, despite the flaws, I am still glad this has been released.

Giallo
(pronounced 'djallo, plural gialli) is an italian 20th century genre of literature and film, which in italian indicates crime fiction and mystery. In the English language, however, it is used in a broader meaning that is closer to the french fantastique genre, including elements of horror fiction and eroticism.
The word giallo is Italian for "yellow" and stems from the origin of the genre as a series of cheap paperback novels with trademark yellow covers.
