Welcome to the largest site on the internet dedicated to Dario Argento - one of the most stylish and visually imaginative director's alive today. This is not intended to be a sycophantic 'shrine' to him but a place for information and enlightenment and hopefully you will leave knowing more than when you came. There are all sorts of cool things within these pages - reviews, filmographies, biographies, interviews, slideshows, video/audio downloads and a forum. For an attempt at explaining why I like his films, click here

poor box office for the third mother!
Alan Jones writes:

"Hi Nick, It seems the early optimism over la terza madre has fizzled. Although it started off well, the film has taken less money than il cartaio at the Italian box-office. After two weeks in release it is barely anywhere to be seen and has been pulled from most cinemas. The reviews were universally poor and word-of- mouth not good. I have just come back from the Trieste science + fiction festival where I spent most of my time arguing over the demerits of the movie with practically everyone. I spoke to Dario's office today, they are being philosophical about it and hoping its international release will fare better."

Giallo
(pronounced 'djallo, plural gialli) is an italian 20th century genre of literature and film, which in italian indicates crime fiction and mystery. In the English language, however, it is used in a broader meaning that is closer to the french fantastique genre, including elements of horror fiction and eroticism.

The word giallo is Italian for "yellow" and stems from the origin of the genre as a series of cheap paperback novels with trademark yellow covers.
